Ghost Fish 107 Sculpture Unveiled at Berth 73
The "Ghost Fish 107" sculpture, a 40-foot blue fin tuna hanging from a galvanized steel frame at Berth 73, was unveiled on Wednesday, December 5th. The "Ghost Fish 107” sculpture is the latest in a series of public art installations along the L.A. Waterfront. Artist Carl Cheng designed and created the giant fish sculpture, which is complimented by historical wooden benches constructed by local artist Harold Greene.
Thousands Attend Veterans Day Celebration
Several thousand people participated in the first Veterans Appreciation Festival at the Port of Los Angeles on Saturday, November 10. Presented by Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Councilman Joe Buscaino, the Port of Los Angeles and the USS Iowa, the event featured a resource fair for veterans, music, food and tours of the USS Iowa.
Grand Opening of New Catalina Sea and Air Terminal at the Port of Los Angeles
Catalina Express recently dedicated its new Catalina Sea and Air Terminal at the Port of Los Angeles. The substantial investment by Catalina Express is part of the emerging LA Waterfront. The inviting grounds of the terminal allow for dining, drinks and an incredible views of cruise ships and cargo vessels along the Main Channel of America's Port®.
Happy Harbor Halloween
The Port of Los Angeles hosted thousands of youngsters in both Wilmington and San Pedro on Saturday, Oct. 27 as part of its annual Happy Harbor Halloween festivities. Thanks to all those who came out for this fun event.
10th Anniversary Celebration of the Terminal Island Memorial Monument
On Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, the Port of Los Angeles helped celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Terminal Island Memorial Monument. It honors the 3,000 residents of the Japanese fishing village on Terminal Island who resided there until they were relocated during World War II.
